Black Sand Beach Hawaii Elopement - Cindy + Chris

Cindy and Chris visited us from the East Coast, US for their intimate Big Island Hawaii Black Sand Beach elopement early 2023. This couple chose one of my favorite locations for their destination wedding on Big Island - the lush and incredibly beautiful Pololu Valley on the north end of Hawaii Island. This location is rich with many features, including black sand, lava rocks, a gentle river, and an ironwood forest nestled along the shoreline. The beach is set between two high mountains inside of Pololu Valley, making for a magical vibe and remarkable photographs.

Cindy and Chris were married in the morning, which is our recommendation for most black sand beach locations due to variable weather. We began their elopement with a photography session, followed by their wedding ceremony and another post wedding photo session.

Team Photographer, Marissa of Photographers In Hawaii, started this couple at the back of Pololu for their photographs while Deanna DiMichele, owner and licensed minister of Kona Wedding Officiant prepared for their ceremony.

This couple included many Hawaiian elements into their ceremony, such as the Blowing of the Pu, Oli, Lei Exchange, and the Hawaiian Ring Blessing. Cindy and Chris opted for a personalized Koa Ring Blessing bowl, which they are will forever have as a wedding keepsake from their special day.
